About Us
The Langley Chapter Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) is an independent, non-profit aerospace organization with around 2,000 members. Our membership comes from both military and civilian ranks, on active duty, retired, guard and reserves and also from businesses, schools and the public at large. What we all share is a deep concern and commitment to our Nation and the part aerospace plays in its defense. We have a large area of responsibility that encompasses a majority of southeastern Virginia.
The Langley Chapter and AFA provide a vehicle to keep its members informed of issues involving national aerospace initiatives, needs and concerns; including military hardware, quality of life and industrial involvement and support. We communicate this information through Air Force Magazine — the association’s official magazine, with state and chapter programs, and through newsletters and press releases provided to the media.
We are committed to young people and their education, supporting aerospace education and making the elementary and grade school level Visions Program, available to all school systems. The AFA as well, provides scholarships for college study and “Space Camps”; supports local AFROTC, AFJROTC units and sponsors Civil Air Patrol cadet programs and orientation flights. We also have Community Partners program for businesses and industries who wish to involve themselves with our nation’s aerospace future.
The main body of the our Chapter is the Executive Committee (EXCOM), which is made up of the President, Executive Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President for Membership, Vice President for Aerospace Education, Vice President for Veterans’ Affairs, Vice President for Community Partners, and others as needed.
